How To Link Aadhaar Card With PAN Card

Aadhaar card is the most authentic document for the identity as an Indian citizen as per the new Identification system, established by the Government of India. Aadhaar Card contains the 12 digit Unique Identity Aadhaar number to every Indian citizen. PAN or the Permanent Account Number serves as the chief source of Identity for banking and transaction related procedures. The 10 digit Permanent Account number is issued by the Department of Income Tax.

As per the recent judgment passed on June 9th 2017 by Supreme Court of India, linking of Aadhaar card to PAN is now mandatory for filing taxes from July 1 onward.

The department of income tax has made it easy for all the taxpayers in order to link the Aadhaar card to PAN with two-step procedures. It does not demand to login or register as the requirements at the website for linking the two documents. This facility can be used by anyone to link their Aadhaar with PAN. The government has recently introduced methods to link your Aadhaar card with Permanent Account Number.

Here’s a quick guide to link your Aadhaar and PAN cards.

METHOD 1

Step 1:

Open the Income Tax e-filing portal of Income tax department (Go to the website www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in) And click on the left pane i.e. Link Aadhaar New! Under the services section.

Step 2:

Provide the PAN NUMBER, AADHAAR NUMBER and enter the Name as mentioned exactly in your Aadhaar Card and avoid spelling mistakes. Click on the small box if only year of birth is mentioned in your Aadhar Card. Enter the image code and click on Link Aadhaar Button.

After Verification from UDAI, the linking will be confirmed.

You will receive a pop-up message which will show that your Aadhaar card has been successfully linked to your PAN card.

 

METHOD 2

Second method to link Aadhaar with PAN includes login to the official Income Tax website with the following steps below.

Step 1

If you are not registered, the first process includes the registration part on the Income Tax E-filing portal(www.incometaxindiaefiling.com).

Step 2

Now you need to login to the E-filing portal of Department of Income Tax by entering the details like login ID, password and date of birth.

Step 3

After logging in to the site, you will see a pop up window bringing you to link your Aadhaar Card with the Permanent Account Number. In case, the pop up window is not appeared, then go to that blue tab on the top bar, that is, Profile settings and click on Link Aadhaar.

Step 4

Your personal details such as your name date of birth and gender which you have already provided will be mentioned as per the details on the Filing portal. Now verify the Aadhaar Card details with the ones you had provided.

Step 5

Once both of yours details match, enter your Aadhaar Card number and the captcha code and perform the final step of this procedure by clicking Link Now on the bottom.

Step 6

Eventually, as the last thing in the whole process, you will see a pop up message to inform you that your Aadhaar Card has been successfully linked to your Permanent Account Number.

METHOD 3

Link Aadhaar with PAN by SMS

Also for the ease of the tax payers The Income tax department declared that the taxpayers can link their Aadhaar and Pan cards using an easy SMS-based process.

The Income Tax Department has urged taxpayers to link their Aadhaar with their PAN, using an SMS-based facility. It can be done by sending an SMS to 567678 or 56161.

Send SMS to 567678 or 56161 from your registered mobile number in following format:

UIDPAN<SPACE><12 digit Aadhaar><Space><10 digit PAN>

In this, the 12-digit number represents you Aadhaar number, while the second one is your PAN card number.
